If you had joined us back in 2004, when we first started working on cozy spaces, you wouldn’t have recognized our office. Not just because it was located in the founder’s grandmother’s old apartment. There were no crowds of people or massive printers. Just three young artists and a plan to fix the world… or at least make it a little more beautiful. Our first paintings were done entirely by hand, left to dry on the walls, and prepared for international shipping—much to the surprise of our neighbors, who weren’t used to having an art studio right next door.
Surprisingly quickly, the moment came when orders started pouring in. Production was scheduled a month in advance, and the painters worked late into the night, supported by pizza and kind words from the logistics team packing orders nearby. That’s when the first printers arrived. We were as excited as kids, thrilled to start designing digital prints and photo art! To make room for our new equipment (the beginnings of our tech park), we moved to a new location just eight months after starting the company. It wasn’t our last move, and since then, the space we occupy—both offices and production halls—has grown nearly tenfold.
From day one, our team was international. That’s why our perspective was never limited to just one country—we always thought bigger! In the early days, most cozy spaces artworks found their way into the homes of our German neighbors. Today, cozy spaces operates in 9 languages across 15 countries, and our decorations have reached customers in 52 countries around the world. Some of them were quite far away—like Brazil or the Congo. But our personal record? A package that traveled over 14,000 kilometers to reach a customer in Australia.
We’ve come a long way—from a small apartment startup to a global company with an international reach. In 2021, the cozy spaces team grew to 336 people, working across offices and production spaces totaling over 7,100 square meters! We've created more than 30,000 original designs just for you, and our printers are always ready to turn them into canvas prints, wall murals, posters, or paint-by-numbers kits.
